He made a lot of poop along the way, like not scaling fish properly and cooking it sous-vide. Stephanie was strong throughout. Even Ilan, in Season 2, was a somewhat deserved winner. I thought his final meal looked excellent. I'm guessing Sam may have been the best chef that season (please don't say Marcel), but all of these guys could have cooked Hosea under the table.

Hosea's final meal looked horrendous. That raw fish presentation looked amateurish, and his last dish looked like something from the eighties. And fizzy blackberries? How dumb. The scallop dish looked fine, but nothing revolutionary. Of course, I have no idea what Stephan was thinking either...but his squab dish looked the best and he did a great job with the alligator considering the challenge. If he Hosea hadn't drawn the right knife, he would have been toast. I agree that Jeff was the most interesting chef, but what a clusterfuck he was to watch work. And Carla? I still don' believe any of the hype about her. As for Absinthe, um... but at least Jamie was better than Hosea. Hosea should stick to making bad fish dishes in Colorado with retro presentations and bad facial hair.

(Also, how can one be a good chef de cuisine and not a good executive chef? They're generally the same thing in terms of their role in the kitchen...unless you worked at Aqua last year. Or Jardiniere.)

The truth is, there's been too much evidence that this show, like all other reality shows, can't be trusted to show anything real and that the editing will get in the way of the viewer knowing anything. As we know from Casey's analysis of Carla's troubles, there's much more to the show than they let on. But I knew that already. The real problem is that this season, the editing couldn't hide the fact that all the contestants sucked: even with editing, they couldn't make it look like Hosea deserved to win.

Looking back at the five seasons, the best chef of...

Looking back at the five seasons, the best chef of the season has only won twice. Harold and Hung. Hosea did have the best-looking meal that night, would you agree? But Jesus, Top Chef?

If I think about whose restaurant I most want to eat at from this season, it would be 1) Jeff, 2) Carla, 3) Jamie (and I do eat at her restaurant). I wouldn't really care to go to the restaurants of any of the other chefs. Stefan seems like a great chef de cuisine, but there was never anything interesting about his food, or compelling about his culinary viewpoint.
